The teams included noted neurology specialists from HFH: Dr. Sabrina Stefanizzi, Dr. Christian Brosset & Dr. Le Thi Nhung, from Lariboisière-Fernand-Widal: Interventional Neuroradiologist Dr. Marc-Antoine Labeyrie, and the participation of Vietnamese expert doctors from the university and national hospitals.
Dr. Stefanizzi, who spearheaded the project, had this to say:
“We have been developing acute neurovascular care at HFH. Recanalization therapies already exist in Vietnam, and numerous stroke treatment centers have been set up in recent years.
Our aim is to be able to offer exceptional acute stroke care to patients who wish to be treated in an international hospital in Hanoi, using best practices and techniques from across the world. This adds and extra dimension to the available care in Hanoi and Northern Vietnam.
We’ve been working with the neurology and interventional neuroradiology departments at Lariboisière Hospital in Paris in regard to neurovascular issues for 2 years and the results have been very positive. Sharing our experiences in France and Vietnam is a great opportunity for everyone involved and will result in improved care for patients in both cities.”
With the group delighted with the outcomes of the first meeting, they will now aim to host the second iteration in 3 months, and continue to improve acute care for stroke patients worldwide.
