A hospital’s medical team essentially never stops studying. Growth in research and testing are a huge boon across all medical fields and disciplines. In the field of Surgery, a particular focus is placed on technological advancements.
Having access to modern technology means improved safety, better precision and enhanced efficiency for the surgeon. Durability and compliance with up-to-date hygiene requirements are added benefits that come with high-quality and cost equipment too. The result of which is that the biggest beneficiary of a hospital’s technological investment is the patient.
Hanoi French Hospital prides itself for being on the forefront of medical technology in Northern Vietnam. Investments such as the Kinovo 900, a state-of-the art surgical microscope by Carl Zeiss, allow the HFH team to improve outcomes across many metrics of success. Surgeons from multiple disciplines are able to make use of techniques previously unavailable in Vietnam, in particular those that focus on complex parts of the body.
Orthopaedic Surgeon and Traumatologist Dr. Francois Duroux explains in further detail:
“If we look specifically at the latest surgical tools, which we use in HFH – they are an incredible step forward for the practice of surgery. Better visualisation paired with increased manoeuvrability allows the surgeon to more easily reach areas of the body that would have been previously obstructed. It means less physical stress on the surgeon’s hands and less mental fatigue when performing longer procedures. It minimises the need for invasive techniques as the surgeon need only make small incisions and openings on the body. This leads to faster recovery, less pain and more retention of mobility in the affected area of the body. In particular, it is a big benefit to procedures such as Rotator Cuff Repairment using Arthroscopy.”
Dr. Duroux is an expert in shoulder Arthroscopy – a keyhole surgery often indicated for a patient who has suffered a rotator cuff tear, labrum tear, bicep tendon tear or persistent shoulder pain that will not abate with physiotherapy or non-surgical treatments.
The procedure now takes an average of just 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the case, which is a vast reduction in time to previously performed invasive procedures. Those procedures would also leave scarring on the shoulder. The incisions made during arthroscopy leave little-to-no marks thanks to the modern equipment and techniques used.
Hanoi French Hospital employs a patient-centred medical philosophy to ensure that surgery is indicated only if it is the best interest of your health following a treatment devised by a team of multi-disciplinary medical experts. Surgery is performed in an OT that meets the highest European standards of hygiene and care.
