THE IMPORTANCE OF EARLY TESTING

Early testing for heart disease saves lives. Routine health-checks, blood tests and exercise stress tests are simple ways to identify potential life-threatening cardio-related issues. Heart disease can develop silently and without warning, but can be limited with preventative lifestyles changes and treatment if caught early enough. It can lead to a reduction in long-term healthcare costs and help avoid invasive interventions with proper management of health.

Dr. Alain Lebon, Cardiology specialist at Hanoi French Hospital explains:

“Easily tested factors that contribute to heart trouble include blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose. These levels change slowly, over time, but there are signs that can be detected early that give us the opportunity to make lifestyle and diet changes and boost our chances of protecting against heart disease.

Simple changes like exercising more often and adapting food habits can help, and testing shows us the needs of each patient, and the direct impact of those changes.”

Hanoi French Hospital’s Clinical and Interventional Cardiology department offers Consultation and non-invasive testing including;

  • Echocardiography (Adult and Paediatric Colour Doppler Ultrasound)
  • Transesophageal Echocardiography
  • ECG Stress testing by treadmill & bicycle
  • 24-hour Holter ECG
  • 24-hour Blood Pressure Monitoring (MAPA)

The Non-Invasive Centre is supported by our extensive Imaging Department, which includes a CT Scanner and Angiography equipment.

HFH’s Cardiology Department also provides 24-hour services and emergency care for patients suffering from acute heart attack and other acute cardiovascular conditions. In collaboration with the National Heart Institute and Cardiology Department of the Hanoi Medical University our specialists perform all types of interventional procedures, including coronarography, angioplasty (PTCA), stenting, and arrhythmias.

Our team also performs temporary or permanent pacemaker insertion and electrical cardioversion to restore normal heart rhythm in patients who suffer from atrial fibrillation. The ICU at HFH monitors patients 24/7, 365 days a year and meets the highest international standards of hygiene and care.

To use the old analogy – if your body were a car, you would service the engine regularly. Treat your heart with the same care, and test early and often for heart disease. Keep your engine in the best shape.
