Diagnostic Imaging
The Imaging Department of the HFH is committed to deliver best quality medical imaging services with regard to efficiency, hygiene, radiation safety as well as image quality.
The Department comprises of full time Specialists, French Visiting Specialists and external Consultants in the field of Interventional Radiology. The doctors work together, building on each other’s experience creating a team of specialists serving physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
We offer a wide range of diagnostic services, including:
Radiography
The most frequently used form of diagnostic medical imaging are X-rays. Patients undergo X-rays for diagnosis and periodic health checkups.
The use of digital X-ray systems helps shorten processing time compared with conventional X-rays, minimizing patient exposure to radiation. Protective lead aprons and shields are available to protect your body or body parts from exposure to radiation.
For general X-rays no preparation is required. In case you need a barium X-ray, you will have to use a bowel cleanser and refrain from eating and drinking several hours prior to the procedure and will receive detailed instructions from your doctor.
To achieve optimum image quality, you will have to follow the instructions of the doctors and technicians. If you are pregnant or suspect that you may be pregnant, you should notify the doctor or technician.
The following imaging services are available 24/7 at HFH:
- Routine digital X-ray imaging of chest, sinus, head and brain, spine and bones.
- Digital X-ray scans for gastrointestinal system, uterus and fallopian tubes with contrast, urinary tract, joints, percutaneous biopsies, puncture and drainage procedures.
- Breast X-ray for early detection of breast cancer. The use of modern Giotto digital mammography unit helps obtain best quality images, whilst allowing almost pain free patient experience during the examination (thanks to its automated breast compression system). The images are displayed on BARCO high resolution screens, enabling faster and more accurate diagnosis.
Ultrasonography
Ultrasound is a safe diagnostic procedure, causing no harm from radiation and no pain to the patient.
HFH Imaging Department utilizes the latest generation of GE ultrasound machines, ensuring the best diagnostic image quality. The HD-live technology (4D ultrasound lightening technique), SRI (Speckle Reduction Imaging) and TUI (Tomographic Ultrasound Imaging) allows for a realistic experience of 3D, and 4D images. Our ultrasound services include:
- First, second and third trimester fetal screening
- Transfontanel ultrasound
- Parotid gland ultrasound
- Breast ultrasound
- Thyroid gland ultrasound
- Head and neck ultrasound
- Abdominal ultrasound
- Axillary ultrasound
- Inguinal ultrasound
- Renal and bladder ultrasound
- Pelvic ultrasound
- Testicular ultrasound
- Prostate ultrasound
- Spinal ultrasound
- Ultrasound examination of tendons and joints
- Soft tissue ultrasound
- Vascular Doppler of the peripheral arteries
- Vascular Doppler for head and neck arteries
- Ultrasound of the venous and lymphatic vessels
- Ultrasound guided biopsies
CT Scan
This is an imaging modality utilizing ionizing radiation to create quick and detailed images of the body.
If a CT scanner is prescribed by your doctor, the radiologist/ technician will ask several questions about your health and will inform you about what you need to do in order to prepare for the examinations. In the event that contrast mediums have to be administered prior to the scan, you will be asked about history of allergy, kidney or liver disease, diabetes or whether you have had contrast mediums enhanced CT scan before.
With the newest Siemens 64 slice CT scanner we are able to perform all scans such as:
- CT coronary angiogram: to determine coronary calcium score, to detect coronary artery disease at early stage in patients with risk factors and for the screening of coronary artery disease. This technology assists our team of Cardiologists to determine accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment planning for patients at risk for cardiovascular disease.
- Cerebro-vascular CT: Evaluation of cerebro-vascular perfusion to detect and evaluate early ischemic lesions, for optimal treatment outcome.
- Dual energy CT scan technology brings new achievements in medical diagnosis such as:
- Early detection of gout with high sensitivity and specificity
- Study of urinary stone characteristics (hardness, chemical composition, etc.) enables Urologists to make precise diagnosis and evaluation prior to any intervention.
We also operate mobile X-ray and ultrasound equipment to obtain images at the patient's bedside, in the operating theatre or in the intensive care unit whenever and wherever required.
All digital images are kept in a PACS image storage system, the latest software version of FUJIFILM. Thanks to this system, your images will be kept in our digital image data bank from where they can be retrieved at any time.
