Hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancer screening is particularly important for people with risk factors such as:
- Hepatitis B, hepatitis C, chronic liver disease or cirrhosis
- Regular alcohol consumption
- A family history of liver, biliary tract or pancreatic cancer
- Gallstones, biliary tract disease or chronic pancreatitis
- Abnormal signs such as jaundice, pain or discomfort in the right upper abdomen or epigastric region, unexplained weight loss, loss of appetite or persistent fatigue
Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Quang Duat – Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Hanoi French Hospital, shares:
“In hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancer screening, laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging findings need to be interpreted in relation to the patient’s medical history, risk factors and clinical examination. A comprehensive assessment enables doctors to determine how suspicious a lesion may be, stratify the patient’s risk and recommend an appropriate management plan.”
At Hanoi French Hospital, the Liver – Gallbladder – Pancreas Cancer Screening Package includes essential consultations and investigations:
- Consultation with a specialist: review of medical history, symptoms, risk factors and previous examination results.
- Blood tests: full blood count, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and hepatitis E tests, together with biomarkers that support the assessment of hepatobiliary and pancreatic abnormalities, including AFP, PIVKA-II and CA 19-9.
- Non-contrast MRI of the liver, biliary tract and pancreas: supports the detection of structural abnormalities such as focal liver lesions, bile duct dilatation, gallbladder and biliary tract abnormalities, and pancreatic cysts or masses.
In recognition of World Hepatitis Day on 28 July, Hanoi French Hospital is offering a 10% discount on the Liver – Gallbladder – Pancreas Cancer Screening Package from 20 July to 20 August 2026. The program encourages proactive assessment of liver, biliary and pancreatic health, particularly among people with viral hepatitis or other risk factors associated with liver cancer.
